Your mind is like the fertile field of a farmer. If you take care of it, it will grow whatever you plant in it. For instance, look at your mind as that field. The farmer plants two kinds of plants, hemlock (poison) and corn. It takes care of the land, waters it and fertilizes it. It grows healthy plants, one will kill you and the other will help you thrive.
Let's look at this another way. The hemlock reprensents negative thoughts and the corn represents good thoughts. The land is your mind. You are the farmer who has sown the seeds. If you have sown hemlock, life does not go too well for you. On the other hand, if you have sown corn more good comes your way than bad.
